About handybear

Based in Charlottesville, VA, handybear works as a hardwood flooring contractor. A team of 6, the business has been operating for 21 years. Expect furniture to be moved, old flooring pulled, and the subfloor fixed where it squeaks or dips. Installation then moves room by room, with cuts around vents and door casings, followed by thresholds, stair nosing, and molding for a clean finished edge where the floor meets other surfaces.

Typical jobs for hardwood floor installation in Charlottesville include floating hardwood floors, solid oak plank installation, engineered hardwood over concrete, old carpet removal before install and baseboard and shoe molding reinstall. handybear is also listed for handyman and hardwood floor refinishing.

Squeaky or uneven subfloors, water-damaged sections, or a remodel that opens up walls between rooms are common triggers for new hardwood installation. Photos of each room, the chosen wood species or product, and whether furniture moving and old floor removal are needed help an installer quote accurately. Wood species, plank width, and solid versus engineered construction set the material cost. Subfloor repair, stairs, and pattern layouts like herringbone add labor.

Besides Charlottesville, homeowners in Earlysville, Crozet and Ruckersville can reach out for hardwood floor installation. Posted hours are Monday to Saturday. Request a quote from handybear on Fixerlane and describe the job you need done.
