Portillo Construction

About Portillo Construction

Based in Dickinson, TX, Portillo Construction works as a hardwood flooring contractor. The business has been operating for 26 years with a team of 5. Hardwood installation starts with checking the subfloor for flatness and moisture, then laying underlayment and planks in the right direction for the room. Boards are nailed, glued, or floated depending on the product, and trim is set last to cover the expansion gaps left along the walls.

Common requests for hardwood floor installation include floating hardwood floors, solid oak plank installation, nail-down floors over plywood subfloors, stair tread and riser installation and baseboard and shoe molding reinstall. Portillo Construction is also listed for handyman and interior painting.

Squeaky or uneven subfloors, water-damaged sections, or a remodel that opens up walls between rooms are common triggers for new hardwood installation. Provide square footage for each room, the current flooring type, and whether stairs are included. Note if the floor sits on a concrete slab or a wood subfloor. Removal and disposal of old flooring, furniture moving, and trim work affect the total, along with the number of rooms, closets, and cuts involved.
