What Fixerlane does not do
If any of these is something you use every day, stay with ServiceM8 or pick a tool that has it.
- Text messages (SMS) to customers — no reminders, “on my way” texts or two-way texting by SMS
- Route optimisation — you see the day on a map and set the order yourself
- GPS tracking of technicians
- QuickBooks sync — QuickBooks is a one-time import, not a live connection
- Consumer financing for customers
- Change orders and progress (milestone) billing
- Membership or service-agreement billing
- Equipment and asset tracking
- Marketing campaigns (email or postcards) and call tracking
- Aerial or satellite measurements
Switching from ServiceM8
Fixerlane imports from QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop export files — Excel, CSV, IIF or the Export data .zip — and brings in customers, products and services, past invoices and estimates. You check what it found before anything is saved, nothing is emailed to your customers, and an import can be undone. There is no direct import from ServiceM8.
If your ServiceM8 account syncs to QuickBooks, your customers and invoices are already there: export them from QuickBooks and upload the files to Fixerlane. Jobs, schedules and photos stay in ServiceM8. Every list and report in Fixerlane exports as CSV, so leaving is as easy as arriving.
The trial is 7 days with no card, so you can run a real week in Fixerlane alongside ServiceM8 before you cancel anything.
Common questions
- How does ServiceM8 pricing work?
- By jobs per month. On October 4, 2026 its US page listed Free (30 jobs, 1 user), Starter $29 (50 jobs), Growing $79 (150), Premium $149 (500) and Premium Plus $349 (1,500+, then 20¢ a job). Paid plans have unlimited users.
- Is Fixerlane cheaper than ServiceM8?
- Below 30 jobs a month ServiceM8’s free plan costs nothing. Above that, Fixerlane’s $19.99/mo is less than every paid ServiceM8 plan and does not rise with your job count.
- What does ServiceM8 have that Fixerlane does not?
- Text messaging, route optimisation, staff GPS and QuickBooks integration, all on every plan.
