Apps like Jobber and Housecall Pro: 6 field service apps compared
Jobber and Housecall Pro are the two names every home service business hears first. Here is what they cost, what they do well, and how four alternatives compare — including Fixerlane, the app I built for owner-operators and small crews.
By Akram Akbar, Founder of Fixerlane ·
Fixerlane is our product. Competitor prices and features are taken from each company's own website on and linked under Sources; they change, so check the source before you buy.
The short answer
If you want what Jobber and Housecall Pro do without paying for every person on your team, look for an app that prices by team size. For an owner-operator or a crew of up to 10, that is Fixerlane: $19.99 a month for the whole team, an app that keeps working without signal, and a free directory listing that sends you homeowner enquiries. The other five are the better pick in specific cases:
- Jobber: growing crews that want text messaging, route optimisation, QuickBooks sync and deep automation. From $29 a month for one user, billed annually.
- Housecall Pro: residential trades that sell big-ticket jobs and want consumer financing, GPS and phone support. From $59 a month, billed annually.
- ServiceTitan: established HVAC, plumbing and electrical companies with dispatchers and office staff. Price on request, per technician.
- Workiz: call-driven trades such as locksmiths, garage door and appliance repair that want a built-in phone system. Price on request.
- Service Fusion: established firms that need inventory, progress billing and QuickBooks Desktop. From $208 a month billed annually, unlimited users.
How I compared them
I run Fixerlane, so read this as a comparison written by one of the apps in it. To keep it fair, every competitor price and feature below comes from that company’s own website, checked on October 4, 2026 and linked under Sources at the end. Where a company does not publish a price, the table says so instead of guessing.
I compared the costs a small business actually pays — one person, and a team of five — and the features a trade business uses every day. Fixerlane’s gaps are listed in full further down, next to who should pick something else.
What each app costs for one person and a team of five
Per-user pricing is where the bills split apart. Five people on Jobber’s Connect plan cost $149 a month billed annually, or $199 with no commitment. Housecall Pro’s Essentials plan is also $149 billed annually, or $189 monthly. Fixerlane covers the same five people — and up to 10 — for $19.99 a month.
ServiceTitan and Workiz do not publish prices, so you only learn the number after a demo or a sales call. Service Fusion includes unlimited users, which helps larger teams, but starts at $208 a month billed annually.

Card and bank payment fees
The subscription is only half the bill; the other half is what each payment costs. On cards the apps are close: Jobber charges 2.9% + 30¢, Housecall Pro lists “as low as 2.59%”, and Fixerlane adds no fee of its own on top of Stripe’s 2.9% + 30¢, paid into your own Stripe account.
Bank (ACH) payments are where Fixerlane is cheaper on big jobs. Jobber and Housecall Pro list bank payments at 1%. Fixerlane charges 1% too, but never more than $20 a payment, Stripe’s fee included — so a $5,000 job costs $20 to collect, not $50.
Features side by side
All six handle the core loop of a service business: a quote the customer approves, a scheduled job, an invoice and a payment. The differences are in the extras — texting, routing, accounting sync — and in whether the app brings you customers at all. Fixerlane is the only one of the six with a consumer directory that sends you leads.

Each alternative, and who should choose it
Each of these is a good product for the right business. Here is what each one is, where it beats Fixerlane, and a link to the full side-by-side comparison.
Running an HVAC or plumbing business? The trade-specific comparisons cover maintenance plans, equipment records and flat-rate quoting: the Jobber alternative for HVAC and the Jobber alternative for plumbers.
Jobber
Jobber is one of the best-known field service apps for home service businesses, sold in four plans priced by the number of users. Fixerlane covers the same quote–schedule–invoice–get-paid loop for one flat price, but has fewer automations and no text messaging.
Choose Jobber for:
- Text messaging: automated reminders and “on my way” texts from Connect, two-way texting from Grow
- Consumer financing through Wisetack (US), for homeowners paying off a big job
- Route optimisation and GPS tracking (from Connect)
- A live QuickBooks Online or Xero sync (from Connect)
Choose Fixerlane for:
- Price for a crew: $19.99/mo for up to 10 people, against Jobber’s $149/mo billed annually for five on Connect
- A solo price under Jobber’s cheapest: $149.99/yr against Jobber Core’s $29/mo billed annually ($348/yr)
- Customers as well as software: a free Fixerlane directory listing sends you homeowner enquiries at no charge
Housecall Pro
Housecall Pro is a full-featured field service platform for residential trades, with consumer financing, GPS, route tools and a long list of add-ons. Fixerlane is a smaller, cheaper tool that also brings you customers through its free directory listing.
Choose Housecall Pro for:
- Consumer financing on every plan — useful for HVAC, plumbing and roofing replacements
- GPS tracking and route grouping (Essentials), live-traffic route optimisation (Max)
- QuickBooks Online sync (Essentials) and an open API and Zapier (Max)
- Service plans/memberships, sales proposals, commissions and flat-rate pricing on the upper plans
Choose Fixerlane for:
- Price: $19.99/mo for up to 10 people, against $59/mo billed annually for one user on Basic and $149/mo for five on Essentials
- Room to grow on one plan — up to 10 people on Fixerlane, 25 on Team, 50 on Business; Housecall Pro includes 1, 5 or 8 users depending on the plan
- Customers as well as software: a free directory listing that sends you homeowner enquiries at no charge
ServiceTitan
ServiceTitan is a contractor platform with call booking, payroll, memberships and advanced reporting, sold per technician after a demo. Fixerlane is for owner-operators and small crews who want the essentials at a published price.
Choose ServiceTitan for:
- Running an office: call booking, dispatching, payroll and commission tracking
- Memberships and advanced reporting for companies that sell maintenance agreements at scale
- Large residential and commercial contractors with many technicians and dedicated office staff
Choose Fixerlane for:
- Published prices: $19.99/mo for up to 10 people, $39.99 for 25, $69.99 for 50 — no demo or sales call
- Start today: a 14-day trial with no card, against a demo-led sale
- Built for one person or a small crew rather than an office with dispatchers
Workiz
Workiz is field service software for trades such as HVAC, plumbing, garage door, locksmith and junk removal, with a built-in phone system and AI call answering sold separately. Fixerlane publishes one flat price and brings you customers through its free directory listing.
Choose Workiz for:
- A built-in business phone system and AI call answering (paid add-ons) for trades that live on inbound calls
- GPS fleet and team tracking, and QuickBooks Online sync, on every plan
- Two-way texting with customers (with Genius Phone)
- Consumer financing among the payment options
Choose Fixerlane for:
- Prices you can see before talking to anyone: $19.99/mo for up to 10 people, $39.99 for 25, $69.99 for 50
- Nothing sold separately — one plan, or one plan plus AI
- Customers as well as software: a free directory listing that sends you homeowner enquiries
Service Fusion
Service Fusion is field service software for HVAC, plumbing, electrical and other trades with unlimited users on every plan and a long list of add-ons. Fixerlane is priced by team size (up to 50 people), at a much lower price and with fewer features.
Choose Service Fusion for:
- QuickBooks Online and Desktop integration on every plan
- Text alerts, and two-way voice and text from Plus
- Inventory, progress billing and an open API (Pro) for larger operations
- An offline mode that keeps the technician app working
Choose Fixerlane for:
- A fraction of the price for teams up to 50: $19.99/mo for 10 people, $69.99/mo for 50, against $208/mo billed annually
- Job costing, photos and recurring invoicing included rather than add-ons
- A self-serve 14-day trial with no card
Why Fixerlane is the best fit for a small crew
I built Fixerlane because the tools above are priced and designed for companies with an office. Most home service businesses are an owner and a few people in trucks. For them, this is what Fixerlane does differently:
- One price for the whole crew. $19.99 a month covers up to 10 people, $39.99 up to 25 and $69.99 up to 50. Hiring your fourth tech never changes the bill.
- Customers, not just software. Your listing in the Fixerlane directory is free, and homeowner enquiries arrive as leads at no charge. None of the other five bring you customers.
- An app that works without signal. In a basement or on a rural job, the Fixerlane app keeps working and catches up when it reconnects. Jobber’s schedule is read-only offline.
- Quote to paid in one place. Quotes customers sign online, scheduling and recurring visits, invoices with automatic reminders, and card, bank and Tap to Pay payments into your own Stripe account.
- Job costing and timesheets on the base plan. On Jobber, job costing starts at the Grow plan; on Service Fusion Starter it is an add-on.
- No contract, and a 14-day trial with no card. Pay monthly or yearly and cancel any time.
- Fixerlane AI when you want it: a $9.99-a-month add-on that drafts quotes, schedules visits and answers questions about your business. You confirm every action.

When Fixerlane is not the right pick
I would rather you choose the right tool once than switch twice. Fixerlane does not do these today:
- Text messages (SMS) to customers — no reminders, “on my way” texts or two-way texting by SMS
- Road-based route optimisation — “Optimise my day” orders stops by straight-line distance, with no live traffic
- QuickBooks sync — QuickBooks is a one-time import, not a live connection
- Consumer financing for customers
- A phone system, call answering or call tracking — calls go from your own phone
- Google Business Profile or Facebook integrations
- Postcard and direct-mail campaigns — campaigns are email only, to your own clients
- Vehicle GPS trackers — location tracking uses your team’s phones while they are clocked in
- Aerial or satellite measurements
If texting customers, a live QuickBooks sync or financing for your customers is a must-have today, Jobber, Housecall Pro or Workiz will serve you better.
How to switch from Jobber or Housecall Pro
There is no one-click import from Jobber or Housecall Pro. If your account syncs to QuickBooks, moving takes an afternoon:
- Start the 14-day trial from the pros page. No card is needed.
- Export your customers, products and invoices from QuickBooks and upload the files to Fixerlane. You review what it found before anything is saved.
- Add your team, your price book and your tax rates.
- Claim your free directory listing so new enquiries start coming in while you switch.
- Run both apps side by side for a week, then cancel the old one once its open jobs are done.
Try Fixerlane free for 14 days
$19.99/month for up to 10 people. No card, no contract — and your directory listing is free forever.
