The best Jobber alternative for HVAC businesses in 2026
Jobber is built for every home service trade. HVAC asks more of it: equipment that comes back for service every season, maintenance plans that bill themselves, and quotes that put a repair beside a replacement. Here is how Jobber handles each one, what it costs an HVAC shop of four, and the alternatives — including Fixerlane, the app I build.
By Akram Akbar, Founder of Fixerlane ·
Fixerlane is our product. Competitor features are taken from each company's own website and help center on , and prices on , all linked under Sources; they change, so check the source before you buy.
The short answer
If you run an HVAC business with up to 10 people and you sell tune-ups and maintenance plans, Fixerlane is the cheaper Jobber alternative that covers what HVAC adds: equipment records with warranty and service-due reminders, service agreements that bill monthly, quarterly or yearly, and repair-or-replace options on one quote. It costs $19.99 a month for the whole team, against $149 a month billed annually for five people on Jobber Connect.
Stay with Jobber — or look at Housecall Pro — if you finance replacements for homeowners or need text-message reminders; Fixerlane has neither. And if you run several trucks with a dispatcher and want memberships, flat-rate pricing and financing in one system, ServiceTitan and FieldEdge are built for that, at prices they quote on request.
What HVAC asks of field service software
Most of a field service app is the same for every trade: a request, a quote, a visit, an invoice. HVAC differs in four places, and they are where a general-purpose app starts to strain.
- The equipment outlives the job. A furnace installed this year is serviced every fall for 15 years. Model, serial, filter size and warranty date need to sit on the home, not in a past job’s notes.
- Revenue comes back on a schedule. Spring AC and fall furnace tune-ups, sold as a plan billed every month or once a year, are what keep techs busy between heat waves.
- The biggest quote is a choice. Fix the capacitor or replace the system, single-stage or variable-speed — the homeowner decides on site, so the options belong on one quote.
- Demand arrives in spikes. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics notes HVAC technicians are often on call and work overtime in peak heating and cooling seasons, when the first hot week brings more no-cool calls than a small team can answer.
The market is large and still growing. BLS counts 440,900 HVAC mechanics and installers in 2025 and projects 11% growth from 2025 to 2035, much faster than average. The U.S. Energy Information Administration found 67% of US homes had central air conditioning in 2020, up from 27% in 1980 — and every one of those systems needs a tech who can find its history.
How Jobber handles HVAC work, need by need
Jobber is a strong app and has a dedicated HVAC page that promotes recurring maintenance, good-better-best quotes and financing. Read against its own help center, here is what each of those means in practice — and what Fixerlane does in the same spot.

Maintenance plans: the biggest gap for HVAC
Jobber has no membership or service-agreement feature. Its help center describes the way to bill a plan: a recurring job set as a fixed-price job, invoiced “a set price per invoicing period”, such as $150 a month however many visits there are. Invoices can go out monthly, after each visit, as needed or when the job closes; a yearly invoice is not among the options. Automatic card or bank payments only work on recurring jobs, and only from the Connect plan.
That covers a simple monthly plan. It does not track who is a member, what they paid for, or when a plan renews — which is why HVAC owners on Jobber’s own community forum describe tracking members with tags and custom fields.
In Fixerlane a service agreement is its own record. You set the price and the billing — monthly, quarterly or yearly — and it bills by emailed invoice or the customer’s saved card, with their consent recorded. The visits run as a recurring series, so moving the fall tune-up leaves the spring one alone. What Fixerlane does not do is apply member perks for you: a member discount is added to the quote by hand.
Equipment history and warranties
Jobber’s help center has no equipment or asset feature, and its community forum carries requests for one. The workaround is a custom field, available from Connect: a text box for the model and serial on the client or property, with no service dates or reminders behind it.
Fixerlane keeps equipment on each property: the kind (furnace, air conditioner, heat pump, mini-split, boiler, air handler, thermostat and more), brand, model, serial, filter size, install date, warranty end and how often it is serviced. Each visit is logged against the unit, photos of the data plate stay with it, and a list shows what is due — 14 days before a service and 30 days before a warranty runs out — so the tune-up call happens before the homeowner calls someone else.
Refrigerant records and EPA Section 608
Neither app is an EPA compliance tool, and neither claims to be. It still matters what your techs can record on site. Under 40 CFR 82.156, a technician recovering refrigerant from an appliance with a full charge of more than 5 and less than 50 pounds for disposal must keep, for three years, the company name, the appliance’s location, the date of recovery and the type of refrigerant, plus the monthly total recovered and where it was sent for reclamation.
In both Fixerlane and Jobber the practical answer is a checklist on the visit: refrigerant type, pounds recovered and a photo of the gauge or the cylinder tag. In Jobber, checklists start on Connect; in Fixerlane they are on every plan, and the app records them without signal.
Repair-or-replace quotes and financing
Both apps put options on one quote. In Jobber these are optional line items on the Grow and Plus plans; in Fixerlane quote options and optional extras are on every plan, and you can ask for a deposit on the same quote before you order the equipment.
Financing is where Jobber is ahead. It offers Wisetack in the US on every plan except Lite, for residential quotes from $500 to $65,000. The homeowner applies; you pay a flat 3.9% of the financed amount — $351 on a $9,000 system. Wisetack asks for 10 or more online reviews averaging around 4.5 stars and $12,500 a month or $150,000 a year in revenue. Fixerlane does not offer customer financing. If most of your replacements are financed, that alone is a reason to stay with Jobber.
What an HVAC shop of four pays in a year
Take an owner and three technicians — four people who each need the app. Jobber prices by user, so four people means its five-user tier. HVAC also pushes you up a plan: checklists, custom fields and automatic payments start on Connect, and optional line items and job costing on Grow.
- Fixerlane: $149.99 a year, or $19.99 a month ($239.88 a year). Up to 10 people, every feature above.
- Jobber Connect, 5 users: $1,788 a year billed annually ($149 a month), or $2,388 with no commitment ($199 a month).
- Jobber Grow, 5 users: $2,748 a year billed annually ($229 a month), or $3,588 with no commitment ($299 a month).
- Jobber Receptionist for after-hours calls: $348 a year more ($29 a month), with 30 conversations a month.
- Housecall Pro Max, which includes recurring service plans: $3,588 a year billed annually ($299 a month, 8 users).
- ServiceTitan and FieldEdge: not published; both quote by team size.
A solo HVAC tech who wants checklists on Jobber needs Connect for one user — $1,188 a year billed annually ($99 a month) — because Core, at $29 a month, does not include them.

Other Jobber alternatives built for HVAC
Fixerlane is not the only option, and for some shops it is not the right one. Each of these publishes maintenance plans, equipment tracking and good-better-best quotes on its own site:
- Housecall Pro: recurring service plans, equipment on property profiles, a good-better-best sales proposal tool and Wisetack financing. Service plans are on Max, $299 a month billed annually for 8 users.
- ServiceTitan: memberships for residential service and service agreements for commercial, equipment tracking, Pricebook Pro flat-rate pricing and financing through Service Finance. Built for companies with dispatchers and office staff; pricing on request, per technician.
- FieldEdge: service agreements, equipment tracking, flat-rate pricing and Proposal Pro for good-better-best options. Pricing on request and no free trial; the vendor onboards you.
For the general comparison across trades — Workiz, Service Fusion and others — see apps like Jobber and Housecall Pro. Do plumbing as well? The Jobber alternative for plumbers covers emergency calls and flat-rate quoting.
When to stay with Jobber
Switching costs a week of attention, so only switch for a reason. Stay with Jobber if:
- You finance most replacements. Wisetack inside the quote wins jobs Fixerlane cannot help with.
- Your customers expect texts. Jobber sends reminders and “on my way” by SMS from Connect; Fixerlane uses email and app notifications.
- You need a live QuickBooks Online or Xero sync. Fixerlane imports from QuickBooks once and does not sync back.
- You want calls answered for you. Jobber’s Receptionist books visits by phone around the clock; Fixerlane has no phone system.
- You optimise routes across many trucks. Jobber has route optimisation from Connect; Fixerlane orders a day’s stops by straight-line distance.
Why HVAC shops choose Fixerlane
I build Fixerlane for owner-operators and small crews, and HVAC is one of the trades it is shaped around. Its HVAC software page walks through a week of work in the app. In short:
- One price for the crew: $19.99 a month for up to 10 people, $39.99 for 25. A fourth tech never changes the bill.
- Equipment records with service-due and warranty reminders, on the base plan.
- Service agreements billed monthly, quarterly or yearly, by invoice or saved card.
- An app that keeps working in an attic or a crawl space and catches up when it reconnects.
- New customers as well as software: a free listing in the Fixerlane directory where homeowners look for HVAC service, with enquiries arriving as leads at no charge.
- Card payments with no Fixerlane fee on top of Stripe’s, and bank payments at 1%, never more than $20 — a $9,000 install costs $20 to collect by bank.
Moving an HVAC business from Jobber
There is no one-click Jobber import. The order that loses the least:
- Start the 14-day trial from the pros page. No card is needed.
- If Jobber syncs to QuickBooks, export customers, products and invoices from QuickBooks and upload the files to Fixerlane. You review what it found before anything is saved.
- Add your price book — or start from the HVAC starter prices and change them to yours.
- Enter the equipment for your maintenance customers first; their next tune-up is the next revenue.
- Recreate each maintenance plan as a service agreement, and ask members to save a card again.
- Run both apps until Jobber’s open jobs are invoiced, then cancel it.
Try Fixerlane free for 14 days
$19.99/month for up to 10 people. No card, no contract — and your directory listing is free forever.

- For an owner-operator or a crew of up to 10 that sells tune-ups and maintenance plans, Fixerlane: equipment records with service and warranty reminders, service agreements and repair-or-replace quotes for $19.99 a month for the whole team. If you need customer financing or text messages, Housecall Pro covers HVAC needs with both; larger shops with dispatchers look at ServiceTitan or FieldEdge.
- Does Jobber have HVAC maintenance agreements?
- Not as a feature. Jobber’s help center describes billing a plan as a recurring job with a fixed price per invoicing period, with automatic payments from the Connect plan. It does not track memberships or renewals.
- Does Jobber track HVAC equipment?
- Jobber’s help center has no equipment or asset tracking feature (checked October 14, 2026). Custom fields, from the Connect plan, can hold a model and serial number as text.
- How much does Jobber cost for an HVAC company?
- On Jobber’s pricing page, five users cost $149 a month billed annually on Connect and $229 on Grow, which adds optional line items and job costing. Fixerlane is $19.99 a month for up to 10 people.
- Can I offer financing on HVAC replacements with Fixerlane?
- No. Fixerlane does not offer customer financing. Jobber, Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan all do.
