How a construction & contracting week runs in Fixerlane

Estimates you can send from the truck

Build the estimate from your price book — labour by the hour, cabinets by the linear foot, permits, the dumpster — and send it as a branded PDF the client approves and signs online.

Quoting →

Options instead of a second bid

Quote the base scope and the upgrades on the same estimate, so the client chooses rather than shopping your number to someone else.

Quoting →

Deposit before you order materials

Set a deposit on the quote as an amount or a percentage, and the client pays it by card once they approve — before you order a stick of lumber.

Invoicing →

Crews on the right site, every day

Each job holds its visits. Assign a person or a whole crew, set arrival windows for the client, and keep site access, parking and lockbox codes on the property.

Scheduling →

Hours, receipts and photos against the job

Crews clock in on the visit, receipts go in as expenses, and photos record what was built before it was covered. Job costing compares it all with the estimate.

Invoice, statement, paid

Raise invoices against the job, send the client a statement of what is outstanding, take card payments through Stripe and let overdue reminders do the chasing.

Software that also finds you the work

Most construction & contracting software assumes you already have the customers. Fixerlane is also where homeowners look for a pro: claim your free listing and people searching for construction & contracting near them can find you, call you and send you an enquiry. The listing and the leads stay free, whether or not you ever pay for the tools.

A construction & contracting quote, line by line

Quote in the units the work is actually measured in, with quantities that are not rounded into drift. A starter construction & contracting price list comes with the price book — change every price to your own before you send anything.

What Fixerlane does not do yet

Listed here rather than discovered after you sign up:

  • Change orders — send a separate quote for added work and have it approved online; there is no change-order document that rolls into the contract
  • Progress billing, schedules of values, AIA G702/G703 pay applications and retainage
  • Subcontractor management — sub portals, insurance certificates and lien waivers
  • Plan takeoffs and estimating from drawings
  • Daily logs and consumer financing

One price, the whole crew

Fixerlane is $19.99 a month or $149.99 a year, with no charge per user. Fixerlane + AI is $29.99 a month and adds an assistant that drafts quotes, schedules visits and answers questions about your business. Both start with a 7-day free trial.

Common questions

What is general contractor software?
Software that runs the business side of a contracting company — estimates, deposits, scheduling crews, hours, job costs, invoices and payments — in one place instead of a spreadsheet, a calendar and a stack of receipts.
Is Fixerlane right for my contracting business?
It fits small residential contractors and handyman-to-GC businesses best. If you bill commercial work with AIA pay applications, retainage and lien waivers, Fixerlane does not do that, and we would rather say so now.
Does it handle change orders and progress billing?
Not yet. Today you send a separate quote for added work, and raise each invoice against the job yourself. Both are listed above as things we do not do.
Can I manage several job sites at once?
Yes. Each project is its own job with its own visits, crew, photos and costs, and the schedule shows every crew’s week together with the day’s sites on a map.
Do I pay per user?
No. Add every carpenter, labourer and office person at no extra cost.
Can I bring my customers over from QuickBooks?
Yes — you can import customers and invoices from QuickBooks. It is a one-time import, not an ongoing sync.
Can AI write my estimates?
On the Fixerlane + AI plan ($29.99 a month), the assistant can draft a quote, schedule a visit or write a reply from what you type or say. You confirm each one before it is saved.
How will clients find me?
